Hello loves… Just a quick update.

I finally competed in my first bikini bodybuilding competition and I came, drum roll…. 5th in the Bikini over 35 category!!! I competed with about 35 other women in that category. I was also in the bikini tall category with about 50 other women and I didn’t place in that round.

Pumping up backstage before the show. I wore two bikinis for the show. I didn't place in this Bikini even though it was my favorite.

I went into this without the expectations of making call outs let alone top 5, so I was shocked that I placed. It shows hard work does pay off.

Right before I went on stage for the second category where got first call outs. And eventually placed 5th.

Life has been overwhelming the last few days because there is a lot of attention on me since I placed top 5 in one of my categories. I have spent the last few days responding to emails and vetting potential business/sponsorship requests. I also had a photo shoot yesterday and here is a screen capture of the proofs until I get the photos back.

This is just a screen grab of my photo shoot. I had so much fun doing it. I even did a snap chat and some videos behind the scenes.

I will try to come back and give a recap of the day before and day of competition on Friday. I travel to Africa for 10 days on Saturday for a very much needed vacation so I need to do that post before I leave.  I plan on eating a lot during vacation but I am back to my training cycle tomorrow so back to the gym for me as well.

Until then take care of yourselves. Please free to comment and ask questions. I love interacting with people. 🙂

Thanks Li! Sorry I am just responding but I had a long day at work. I am still shocked that I placed in my first competition ever! As far as what I do, I rather not say because I work hard to keep my blogging life and private life separate. I can say I am in the general business field.

Thanks for the answer. I totally understand your need for privacy. I just wondered as it seems you need to spend a lot of time training and competing and your bosses must be very flexible.
I think you have done an amazing job! Good luck with everything.

It really isn’t that much time. This is a lifestyle for me. I work 10-12 hour days every weekday and some weekends. I make time for working out. It is really only about an hour a day to train. Competing does not affect my job or business. When you make something your lifestyle then you make time for it and that is what I have done. So yeah, I get up at 4am go to bed at about 10:30 so I can make time for the gym.

Great that you ve found a way that works for you. I have a day job but work as a fitness instructor in the evening and weekends. It is more of a hobby all though I get some payment. But for me it is tricky to get time off for conventions and when we have trainings in daytime.

You are a great inspiration, and if it is true that you belong in the over 35 category, which I doubt very much, you really teach people that age doesn’t matter!

  • awww CONGRATULATIONS! You look stunning! I hope your trip to Africa was pure bliss (I’m Nigerian) 🙂
